Our Approach
Guided by Omnipreneurship, Technolube’s sustainability journey balances business excellence with environmental and social progress.
As a leading lubricants manufacturer in UAE, we recognise our responsibility to manage the impacts of our operations across the value chain. Our sustainability policy ensures ESG considerations are embedded in Operations efficiency, circular product design, and responsible sourcing, and is regularly reviewed to reflect global standards and stakeholder expectations.
We engage colleagues, suppliers, customers, regulators, and communities through surveys, events, and industry forums to align our actions with their evolving needs.
Our 2024 materiality assessment identified 17 priority topics, including health and safety, waste management, energy use, governance, emissions reduction, and digital transformation. These are addressed through a sustainability framework built on three pillars, i.e. environment, social, and governance, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the UN SDGs, and the Omnipreneurship principles of our parent company, Al Dabbagh Group.
Our Sustainability Framework
Our framework represents the core aspects of sustainability at Petrolube and is built upon three pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG). Material topics are set out under each pillar, alongside related targets and initiatives. The framework is aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the UN SDGs, and also reflects Al-Dabbagh Group’s Omnipreneurship principles, values, and 10 Golden Rules.

Solar Power at Technolube Plant
As part of Technolube’s commitment to reducing environmental impact, the Dubai plant has adopted solar photovoltaic power generation to support cleaner, more efficient operations.
Through a 15-year partnership, TechnoLube installed a solar power system at its Dubai plant to generate renewable energy on-site. In 2024, the system produced enough clean electricity to cover 42% of the plant’s energy needs, helping reduce reliance on conventional power sources.
The project has generated approximately 1.1 million kWh of solar energy from mid-2023 to the end of 2024, while reducing carbon emissions by around 421 tonnes of CO2. It also supports long-term operational efficiency through energy savings and better resource optimization.

Safety at Petrolube
How We Manage Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
Our Vision: We aim to achieve Zero Lost Time Injuries and continuously increase safe working hours year after year, driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in every aspect of HSE.
At Petrolube, people come first. We are committed to fostering a strong safety culture that protects the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees, contractors, and the communities where we operate. Our Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) framework is guided by ambitious KPIs and managed by our dedicated HSE department in coordination with Operations.
Petrolube’s safety systems comply with all legal requirements in our operating countries and align with leading international standards: This approach ensures comprehensive risk management, continuous improvement, and compliance across our operations.
Sustainability Success Stories
Petrolube launched a comprehensive Road Transport HSE program aligned with Transport General Authority (TGA) regulations. The initiative was built around three core areas: training, auditing, and journey management. Defensive Driving training was delivered to 103 drivers, including heavy vehicle operators, company car drivers, van sales staff, and contractors, with tailored sessions designed to ensure consistent safety standards across all participants.
For the first time, HSE audits were expanded to transport contractors, with 16 audits completed and a scoring system introduced to link results to contract renewal and strengthen accountability across the supply chain. At the same time, GPS-enabled fleet monitoring, pre- and post-trip analytics, and enhanced emergency protocols were deployed to improve journey management, reduce risks, and ensure driver accountability.
Together, these measures created a safer and more reliable transport ecosystem, embedded a culture of proactive risk management, and aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 road safety and sustainability goals.
Petrolube is advancing sustainability by replacing its diesel forklift fleet with electric-powered alternatives. Diesel forklifts, though vital to daily operations, generated high CO₂ emissions, fuel costs, and workplace air-quality concerns. To address this, we introduced lithium-ion battery electric forklifts, installed charging stations, and trained operators in safe and efficient usage.
So far, 37% of our fleet ( 26 vehicles )has been converted, cutting Scope 1 emissions by about 180 metric tonnes of CO₂ annually, while reducing noise levels and maintenance costs. The transition has also improved air quality and enhanced workplace comfort for our colleagues.
Our long-term goal is to achieve a fully electric or clean-energy forklift fleet by 2030, reinforcing Petrolube’s commitment to operational efficiency, environmental responsibility, and the Kingdom’s Net Zero 2060 vision.
Petrolube continues to invest in sustainable energy solutions to reduce emissions and enhance efficiency across its operations. At our Technolube plant in Dubai, we partnered with a leading energy provider to install a 452 kWp solar photovoltaic system with a capacity of 730,000 KWh annually. Since its launch in 2023 till the end of 2024, the system has generated more than 1.1 million kWh of clean energy, covering over 42% of the plant’s total power needs.
This shift to renewable energy has reduced CO₂ emissions by around 421 tonnes till the December 2024, the equivalent of 40,000 trees, and delivered significant cost savings. Through Dubai’s net metering scheme, excess energy produced is transferred back to the DEWA grid, earning credits that offset future electricity bills.
By combining renewable power with digital monitoring tools, the project demonstrates Petrolube’s commitment to operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and alignment with Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050. Following this success, similar solar energy projects are now being evaluated for our Riyadh plant.
